Originally from New Brunswick, Liane Roy devoted her career to the Francophonie at the provincial, regional, national and international levels. She served as Assistant Deputy Minister in the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour and the New Brunswick Department of Intergovernmental Affairs. She was the first President and CEO of the New Brunswick Community College (CCNB), where she led this post-secondary institution to become self-sufficient by overseeing a new structure implemented during the entire transition process. Liane worked as a youth technical advisor with the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) in Paris in preparation for the Summit of the Francophonie in Moncton and served as technical advisor for the Partenariat pour l’éducation non formelle (PENF) in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, a cooperation project in workplace literacy. More recently, she held acting positions at the Collège de l’Ile and the Société Nationale de l’Acadie.

She has also directed organizations dedicated to the promotion of Acadia such as the Société Nationale de l’Acadie and the Acadian Society of New Brunswick. In 2019, Liane completed a second Master’s in Education and Doctoral (Ed.D) scholarship in the field of Educational Leadership – Management of Cultural and Linguistic Diversity at Simon Fraser University. She also holds a Master’s in Education with a specialization in orientation from the Université de Moncton and a bachelor’s degree in Social Services from the Université de Moncton. Liane is currently a member of the Board of Governors of Université Sainte-Anne and a member of the Board of Directors for the Fondation Marichette. She has sat on the Board of Directors for various groups including the Association des collèges et universités de la francophonie Canadienne, and has served as President of the Board of Directors of Colleges and Institutes Canada, President of the Consortium national de développement de ressources pédagogiques en français au collegial, and President of Atlantic Collèges Atlantique. In June 2021, Liane was elected president of the FCFA.
