Trained as an anthropologist and museologist, Nicole O’Bomsawin served as Director of the Abenaki Museum from 1984 to 2006. She currently teaches at Kiuna College. A member of the Abenaki Nation of Odanak, Nicole is known for her commitment to revitalizing Abenaki culture and promoting Indigenous history, traditions and knowledge. In 2005, she received the Bernard Assiniwi Award in recognition of her commitment to the promotion and dissemination of Indigenous cultures. In 2011, the Université de Montréal awarded Nicole an honorary doctorate.
